Bellator 186 Preview: Exclusive Interview With Tywan “Speedy” Claxton

Bellator MMA has made it very obvious that they plan on continuing to bring on some of the best up and coming MMA fighters from the wrestling world. A blueprint that has them bringing in talent before they have even made their pro debut, some without an amateur fight. This plan is what brought former Ohio University All-American Tywan “Speedy” Claxton to the company.

Claxton will be making his professional debut for Bellator later on tonight when he meets Jonney Bonilla-Bowman at Penn State University. The first high profiled MMA event ever on a big college campus. Just more proof of Bellator’s current direction.

I had the opportunity to speak with Claxton prior to his pro debut about what life has been like since switching over to MMA, his thoughts on his opponent, and why he thinks he would dominate Aaron Pico. All that combined with a story of sending tampons to Pico’s gym and looking for someone in Pre-Med after his fight this weekend.

You can watch the Bellator prelims starting at 7 pm ET / 4 pm PT on Bellator.com or their new app! A main card that is headlined by Linton Vassell and Ryan Bader starts at 9 pm ET / 6 pm PT LIVE on SPIKE TV. Make sure to stick with MMANews.com for all the results and latest happenings tonight from Happy Valley.
