Personal Demons behind him, Shane Kruchten ready to reach full potential

After suffering a devastating loss to Aaron Pico in January of last year, Shane Kruchten has faced his demons and is ready to show his growth.

Shane Kruchten’s fight with Aaron Pico lasted just 37 seconds last January. A big shot to the body ended the biggest fight in Kruchten’s career before it really had a chance to get going. Kruchten is not one to make excuses, but he can share now just how back things were for him when the fight took place. Luckily with the help of his fiance, he has been able to work through it.

“I had a lot of personal issues going on. I was battling a lot of personal demons. It ended up leading up to the dissolution of my engagement. I really just had to find myself again and find the love for the sport. Luckily, my then and now current again fiance, she helped me a lot. Out of spite trying to go to the gym to spite her and work out because she also fights. It kind of helped me, it helped me and her re-connect and showed me the love I had for the sport again…”

Friday night Kruchten takes on a man who has a come back story of his own, when he fights former champion Daniel Straus. A man who Kruchten has long looked up to and someone he considers an ‘idol’.

“… You get to fight your idols in this sports. That’s what’s crazy, right? When I look back I’m like man. I idolized Daniel Straus when I was getting into this sport. I always wanted to be that guy. Watching his four fight with Patricio Pitbull, watching Pat Curran, and all of a sudden they give me that call. It’s an honor…”

You can listen to the full interview to hear more about Kruchten and what he has overcome, more of his thoughts on Daniel Straus, and he hints at who he potentially would like to fight with the remaining fights on his Bellator Contract.

Shane Kruchten takes on former Bellator champion Daniel Straus Friday night at Bellator 219 LIVE from Temecula, CA and airing on the Paramount Network and DAZN app. Follow along with MMANews.com throughout the night.
