Even after he had a little while to cool down and reflect on his post-fight actions, Alex Oliveira had no change of heart.
Oliveira finished former Bellator lightweight champion Will Brooks Saturday at UFC Fight Night 96, improving to 5-2 inside the Octagon. The two exchanged words after “Cowboy” missed weight, but the Brazilian got the last ones in, taunting an injured Brooks.
“I think he deserved more,” Oliveira told MMAjunkie after the fight. “I was happy for the win, but I was choked on it – on all the disrespect he showed me (Friday).”
The 28-year-old from Rio de Janeiro earned his 16th career win and improved his mark to 5-1 over his last six. The lone loss during that time came to Donald Cerrone in February. He also apologized again for missing weight, coming in at over 161 pounds for the lightweight tangle.
“I’ve never not made weight in my life, and I’ve also never had this happen to me in my life,” Oliveira said. “I’d like to apologize to my fans and him and his team. I was choking on it, and it happened, but I really feel sorry.”
