If things don’t go Anderson Silva’s way, then he may walk away from mixed martial arts (MMA).
“The Spider” will go down as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. While he is brash inside the Octagon, outside Silva has been known for his calm demeanor. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight kingpin reversed course during a recent appearance on MMAFighting.com‘s “The MMA Hour.”
Silva has made it clear that he wants an interim middleweight title bout with Yoel Romero at UFC 212.
“The guys no give this fight for me for the interim belt, I’m done,” he said. “I’ll go be with my family. I’m done. I say, ‘OK, I go fight Yoel Romero.’ Because I know I respect Yoel Romero, he’s a great fighter. He’s No. 1 in the ranks. But one thing — why (would) Yoel Romero come to Brazil (to) fight me for nothing? This is perfect bullsh*t.”
After a long career, Silva is at the end of his rope and doesn’t have the patience for much more of what he perceives to be negotiating games on UFC’s part.
“I’m tired. I’m so tired. I’m respectful long time. Everything, I never talk about bad situations in UFC. … I think I’m done. I fight for long time in my life. And I’m tired, bro. I’m so upset. I have my legacy, I have my story. It’s very frustrating, because this is the second time I’m not fighting in my country.”
