It’s not the first time and it probably won’t be the last, but Bellator Lightweight Champion Will Brooks decided to air his grievances with management late last night on Twitter:

Brooks, an American Top Team product, got his big break in Bellator by winning the Fall 2013 lightweight tournament, which earned him a title shot. That shot came on about a week’s notice at Bellator’s one and only pay-per-view event last year. He replaced injured champion Eddie Alvarez and won a close decision over former champion Michael Chandler to win an interim title. When Scott Coker was hired t replace company founder Bjorn Rebney, Alvarez was given his release, seemingly vacating the title.
That led to a Brooks-Chandler rematch in November on the undercard of Tito Ortiz vs. Stephan Bonnar. Even though the champion was gone and thus had theoretically vacated his title, Brooks was still billed as interim champion and his belt was obscured on the event poster. There, he cemented his claim to the title by dominating Chandler en route to a TKO finish. It was during the build to that card that h first went public about his frustrations with Bellator.
Brooks defends his title against Marcin Held on November 6th.
