Cormier Vows To KO Rumble In Rematch: “You Don’t Hit As Hard As People Think”

The trash-talk between Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Daniel Cormier on social media continued on Friday, with both fighters debating when and where they will meet and D.C. issuing an incredibly bold prediction on how the fight will go.

After challenging Cormier to a rematch at the UFC 205 show in November in New York, D.C. told the knockout artist that he would have to wait until UFC 207 in Las Vegas in December, but that he would be next because he’s not going to wait around for Jon Jones.

The fun continued on Friday as Rumble and Cormier went back-and-forth a number of times on social media. During the Twitter exchanges, Rumble continued to push for the fight to take place at the historic UFC 205 event that will see the Octagon in the middle of the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena for the first-ever UFC event in the state of New York.

Meanwhile, Cormier continues to insist that he will give him the shot at the UFC 207 pay-per-view, rumored to include Cormier’s teammate and friend Cain Velasquez finally fighting the man who ended his UFC Heavyweight Championship reign, fellow former UFC Heavyweight title holder Fabricio Werdum.

Oh yeah, D.C. also tossed in a bold prediction.

“December 30th I’ll be waiting for ya,” wrote Cormier. “No wrestling! I’ll give [you] a shot. I’m gonna knock you out!”

The reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, who won via decision in their first meeting, continued, “Truth [is] I’ll knock you out before [you] knock me out. [You] don’t hit as hard as people think. I’ll stand right in front of [you].”

So what did Rumble, who just knocked out dangerous striker Glover Teixeira in just 13 seconds at last month’s UFC 202 pay-per-view, think about Cormier’s claim that he doesn’t hit hard and that it will be D.C, not Rumble, who wins by knockout in their rematch?

“Man, hush,” said Johnson. Before closing with a “#RumbleCares” hash-tag, Johnson concluded, “Just stop, please.”
