MMA fans who were looking forward to seeing Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos make her Bantamweight debut will have to wait longer.
Invicta FC has become the latest victim of the injury bug, which has now spread into the world of Women’s MMA, as Cyborg is off the Invicta 10 event in December.
It was revealed today that Cyborg has pulled out of her scheduled Invicta FC 10 bout due to a rupture of her anterior talofibular ligament in her left ankle.
Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp noted on Saturday that while Cyborg suffered the aforementioned injury three weeks ago, the promotion waited to find out the severity of her injury before making any official decisions.
At this point it’s known that Cyborg’s condition is bad enough that she can’t fight on 12/5 as expected, so in her place will be “The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson, who will defend her Invicta Atomweight Championship against Herica Tiburico in the new Invicta 10 main event.
Invicta FC 10 takes place on December 5, 2014 in Houston, Texas.
