UFC president Dana White focused on Madison Square Garden and New York City several years ago.
Now, White and the UFC are just days away from holding their first-ever event in the history arena, as UFC 205 takes place Saturday night.
And the UFC boss is expecting nothing short of history.
“New York is always a rowdy, fired up place with a ton of energy. I expect this to be an iconic event,” said White, during an interview on UFC Tonight. “It’ll be one of the greatest live fight ever in Madison Square Garden history. For us to put on an event, and to become part of the history and legacy, it’s pretty surreal. It’s awesome.”
Three titles are planned for the mega-event, including a headline bout between lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and featherweight titleholder Conor McGregor.
