This week, UFC added the complete, unedited speech from the induction of the legendary Don Frye into the UFC Hall Of Fame from the UFC Fan Expo back in July. To those who haven’t seen it yet, you are doing yourself a disservice!
All longtime MMA fans will no-doubt enjoy the speech from “The Predator” (see above), as he looks back on his historic UFC and PRIDE career in an entertaining fashion, before poking fun at modern figures such as UFC commentator Joe Rogan and Conor McGregor.
Frye referenced Rogan when talking about how getting old sucks. “The Predator” told the fans in attendance to look no further than Joe Rogan for proof of that fact.
“Just ask Joe Rogan,” joked Frye. “Quit showing up on TV in your kids t-shirts, woulda ya!”
Regarding the “pissing contest on the internet” he had with UFC President Dana White, Frye said that White claimed he was only mad because he wasn’t getting paid what today’s fighters are making back when he was fighting in his prime.
“You god damn right Don Frye’s pissed off about that,” joked the former two-time UFC tournament winner. “See the checks that cocky little irish guys getting,” Frye added, referring to current UFC Featherweight Champion “The Notorious” Conor McGregor.
Before wrapping up on the topic, Frye referenced the issues leading up to UFC 200 that caused the cancellation of the originally planned McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 2 main event.
“Where’s Dana White at,” questioned Frye, looking around the crowd in attendance. “Dana, if you’d pay me what you pay McGregor, sh*t, I’ll do a press conference between rounds!”
Ladies and gentlemen, “The Predator” Don Frye. There’s only one, and he’s now found his rightful home in the UFC Hall Of Fame.
