Four Fighters Suspended, Fined For Failing Bellator 127 Post-Fight Drug Tests

Bellator fighters Rob Emerson, Fernando Gonzalez, Keith Berry and Nick Moghaddam were all suspended and/or fined for failing post-fight drug tests following the Bellator 127 event back on October 3rd.

Emerson tested positive for Modafinil, resulting in a nine-month suspension and a $2,500 fine.

Gonzalez tested positive for marijuana, which earned him a one-month suspension and a $265 fine.

Both Berry and Moghaddam tested for marijuana and an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio exceeding the four-to-one limit that is allowed by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).

As a result, Berry’s preliminary card victory over Joe Pacheco has been changed to a no contest. Additionally, he must serve a ten-month suspension and pay a $2,500 fine.

Moghaddam lost his fight, so the decision stays the same, however he must serve a ten-month suspension and pay a $1,000 fine.

Bellator President Scott Coker made it clear that he was not happy, to say the least, with four of his fighters failing drug tests on one event.

“I want to make very clear that under new management, Bellator will simply not stand for performance enhancing drugs inside our cage,” said Coker. “We fully support the California State Athletic Commission in their process, and stand by any disciplinary action handed out by Commissioner Andy Foster and the CSAC.”
