Virginia Bionutrients, LLC announced Friday (December 15, 2006) that Fuser Energy Micro-Bar will be the official sponsor of the Virginia based “TEAM COMBAT” which includes WKA Regional Muay Thai Champion Jack Greene, WKA Regional Muay Thai Champion Brandon Mickens, Pro Boxing's undefeated Adam “Real Deal” Seal, two-time WKA female Muay Thai Amateur World Champion Bertina Lee, undefeated MMA fighter and UFC hopeful Amir Sadollah and MMA lightweight Dwayne “Diesel” Shelton who just had favorable showing at Spike TV's Ultimate Fighter reality show casting call in Florida. These fighters are all based out of Richmond's Combat Sports Center and compete in national and international level competitions ranging from MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing and Submission Grappling events.
The announcement to sponsor the Combat Sports' fighting team (TEAM COMBAT) comes on the heels of Fuser Energy Micro-Bar's sponsorship of the Fuser Combat Sports Challenge 18, which was held on Saturday December 9th at the Showplace in Richmond, VA. The event drew an audience of over 2,000. Virginia Bionutrients provided gift bags including Fuser Energy Micro Bars, water bottles and T-shirts to all the competitors of the Combat Sports Challenge 18 before the competition. Many of the competitors on TEAM COMBAT from the Richmond Combat Sports Center already used Fuser Bars to give them focus and energy both in and out of the ring.
The Showplace in Richmond, VA was the venue for the 18th installment of the most exciting Combat Sports event on the East Coast. On December 9th, Combat Sports Center and FUSER (Energy Micro Bar) presented a WKA USA sanctioned show with something for everyone, from Professional Boxing, to Muay Thai Kickboxing, to Ultimate MMA fighting.
The main event featured Adam “Real Deal” Seal (183 lb) (Combat Sports Center, VA) with an elimination boxing record of 36-4, continued his winning pro boxing streak (3-0) by stopping veteran Ken Carey (Jersey Boxing, NJ) in the 2nd round with a body to head punch combination. Philly's Anthony Morrison (Joe Diamond Gym, PA) added a win to move his MMA record to 4 and 1 with a 1st round TKO of Matt Andrews (Team Tengu, NH). Brandon Mickens (155 lb) (Combat Sports Center, VA) advanced his career by capturing the WKA Northeastern Regional Muay Thai Title, by taking a unanimous decision over North Carolina's Lance Eakes (Diamond Fight Gym/Team ROC, NC). Mickens exhibited an uncanny talent for cutting his opponent's legs out from under him, as he controlled the action throughout this 5 round title bout. Dustin Pague (155 lb) out of former Pro Wrestling superstar Steve Blackman's camp in Pennsylvania was a awarded a “walkover” victory as his opponent pulled out of the contest only minutes before he was to enter the ring. Up and coming Lavon Maynard (170 lb) (Global Martial Arts, VA) stopped John Stuart (VBAMA, VA) in the 2nd round by TKO to take the vacant WKA Northeastern Regional Welterweight MMA Title. The night was filled with an exciting under card of both Novice and Open Amateur bouts as well.
This event has grown in popularity due to the highly publicized PPV events like the UFC, Pride from Japan, K-1 and the ever growing Ultimate Fighter Reality show on Spike TV. The card featured up and coming professionals and top amateurs all hoping to catch the industries attention in their respective styles of Boxing, Muay Thai and MMA. The talent on this show stretches across the US and abroad. With the addition of FUSER Energy Micro Bar as their new sponsor, the CSC promoters are promising that their 19th edition of CSC scheduled for March 24, 2007 will be over the top as they combine forces to bring you the best in Muay Thai, MMA, Boxing and now Submission Grappling with the partnership with US Grappling Association.
“Our focus now that the Fuser CSC 18 is over is to help Dwayne “Diesel” Shelton, a lightweight boxing and mixed martial arts champion continue his push towards the UFC,” says Dr. Susan Hardwicke, President and founder of Fuser Energy Micro Bar. Dwayne “Diesel” Shelton grew up in Richmond and has been training with Combat Sports Center for 2 years. Diesel has been using Fuser Bars in his training regimen and has recently made a good showing at the Ultimate Fighter casting call in Florida. As Diesel's sponsor, Virginia Bionutrients will supply him with Fuser Bars and support much of his training and travel costs. Shelton said, “I was so happy to hear that Fuser wanted to back me up because I was using the bars before they came to the table anyway!” At the Fuser CSC 18, Shelton announced his run for the UFC show to the live audience of over 2,000 which was met with loud cheers and a standing ovation. Shelton then said, “These bars are magic! They not only gave me the energy for the physical tests, but also kept me focused through the challenging interview process of the Ultimate Fighter casting call.
