Jimi Manuwa doesn’t sound too keen on going the distance with Corey Anderson.
The two Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweights will share the Octagon this Saturday night (March 18) inside the O2 Arena in London, England. The 205-pound match-up is set to headline the UFC Fight Night 107 card.
This bout is sure to have an impact on the official UFC rankings. With a win, Manuwa could see himself move up to the third spot within the next few months. That’ll come down to a win against Anderson and the result of Alexander Gustafsson vs. Glover Teixeira in May. For Anderson, a win could see him take Manuwa’s fourth spot on the light heavyweight rankings.
In a recent video released by the UFC, Manuwa said it’s no secret that Anderson will try to bring him to the ground. He believes he has an answer for that strategy:
“You know what Corey Anderson’s coming to do. He’s coming to try and wrestle me. He’s not gonna stand with me. I’ve hit hard and I hit to finish. Out of 16 wins I’ve got 15 stoppages and there’s no way he’s gonna come with his wrestling and his little pitter-patter jabs and stuff like that. He can’t make any mistakes because I’ll jump on him, give him hell in there. It’s inevitable that I’m gonna stop the fight.”
