Johny Hendricks On Win: I Did What GSP And BJ Penn Couldn't Do

Johny Hendricks had everything to gain last night at UFC 141 in his match up with Jon Fitch and made the most of the opportunity to face the number two ranked welterweight in the UFC when he knocked out the former title contender 12 seconds into the opening round.

Fitch has never been stopped in the UFC prior to this bout and had not lost via stoppage in over eleven years. During his UFC tenure Fitch has lost only to current Champion Georges St. Pierre, via decision, and fought to a draw with BJ Penn.

Hendricks discussed his place in the UFC following the win:

“I think I belong where I'm at now, you know what I mean? I just beat the number two ranked guy. GSP couldn't do it in five rounds. B.J. Penn couldn't do it, love the guy to death, he couldn't do it. I just knocked the number two guy out in 12 seconds; you know what I'm saying? Where does that put me? Hopefully for a title, but if it doesn't, I'm going to have to go out there and prove it again.”
