On Wednesday, the judges and referees who will serve in the Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones and Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo title fights at UFC 197 were decided upon by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
Serving as the third man in the Octagon when Cormier puts his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on the line against “Bones” Jones in a rematch of their January 2015 fight will be veteran referee Herb Dean.
UFC Champion Cormier registered a complaint regarding Dean being the official of the match, as he was also the referee in their first fight and D.C. felt that he let Jones stall the action in the later rounds. Despite the complaint, Herb Dean will be the third man in the cage for their rematch in April.
The three judges who will be scoring the Cormier-Jones II fight at UFC 197 will be Sal D’Amato, Chris Lee and Junichiro Kamijo.
In the co-main event of the evening, which will see “Mighty Mouse” defending his UFC Flyweight Championship against undefeated former Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo, veteran referee “Big” John McCarthy will be the third man in the cage.
