Lashley Hospitalized Following Loss, Coker Questions His Future

Bobby Lashley was sent to the hospital due to what is being called “extreme dehydration” following his second round TKO loss to Chad Griggs at the Strikeforce: Houston event last night on Showtime.

While Lashley is out of the hospital now, said to have been released early this morning, things aren't exactly looking up for the former WWE and TNA Wrestling star. After being treated with multiple IV bags used to attempt to pump fluids back into his system due to the level of dehydration he was experiencing, his future as a MMA fighter on the big stage is already being questioned by some important people.

With UFC president Dana White being openly vocal about his opinion of Lashley while he was an undefeated heavyweight prospect, one can imagine his current thoughts on how close Lashley is to earning a spot in the already crowded UFC heavyweight division after his loss in Houston on Saturday. To make matters worse, Lashley's current employer, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker is questioning Lashley's future in the sport after losing his first fight out of six trips to the cage.

Coker was quoted after the show by the MMA press, claiming that Lashley needs to do some soul-searching to find out if a career in MMA is something he's still interested in. Obviously those comments can be taken a number of ways, all of which would have to be negative, but the only thing that is certain is that it's not a positive statement if you're a fan of Lashley as a MMA fighter.

Coker did mention that how Lashley comes back from this loss will tell a lot, which seems to suggest that he's not done yet. Even still, the “soul-searching” line is definitely a head-scratcher.
