Megan Anderson Needs Experience According to Dana White

Former Invicta FC champion Megan Anderson (9-3) is 1-1 in the UFC. She lost a decision to Holly Holm and scored a TKO victory over one of the UFC’s toughest women in Cat Zingano but that victory came with criticism over Anderson because it was an eye injury that Zingano received that ended the fight. Anderson has yet to show off her skill set that she displayed so well in Invicta FC to fans of the UFC.

Anderson returns to action this weekend in the UFC’s return to New York at UFC Fight Night 152 against Felicia Spencer (6-0) at The Blue Cross Arena in Rochester New York. It is the UFC’s eleventh event in New York State since the ban on mixed martial arts was lifted in 2016. Spencer is also an undefeated Invicta FC featherweight champion and makes her promotional debut.

Both women coming from Invicta FC never having lost their featherweight titles makes this fight a must-see since it could technically be viewed as a “champ vs. champ” fight, even if it is from their former promotion. Anderson made her debut against Holm, which may have come with the “UFC jitters” some fighters allude to when walking into the UFC cage for the first time.

Spencer is coming in the same way Anderson did and that makes for a good fight. But will Anderson’s UFC seniority benefit her on Saturday?

Both women will answer that when they face off, but UFC President Dana White told New York Upstate that he feels Anderson could use some more experience. “What she needs is experience,” said White and added that “She needs to continue to fight and get that experience. She’s very talented and could definitely be something.” Before losing to Holm in her UFC debut Anderson went on a four-fight win streak that was all TKO stoppages. White could be right about Anderson but this weekend will certainly clear it up with fans.

Do you agree that she needs more experience?
