OSAC To Reduce BattleGrounds MMA Tourney Winner Roan Carneiro’s Fine From $15,000 To $100

Roan Carneiro, who won the BattleGrounds MMA O.N.E. Welterweight tournament back in October, received some good news today from the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission (OSAC), as his original $15,000 fine for showing up late to a pre-fight physical has been reduced to a simple $100 fine.

OSAC Executive Director Joe Miller told the folks at MMAJunkie.com today that Carneiro filed a consent order, taking responsibility for violating the rules of the OSAC, which resulted in them agreeing to cut his 30-percent fine, which amounted to $15,000 of his $50,000 purse for winning three fights in one night, to only $100.

“It’s a shame it was that large of a purse, but we had to stay with the system we normally do,” Miller said. “He admitted he was late and explained the situation. I went over the reasons why it’s important to be on time, that he left a lot of people hanging, not knowing where he’s at. He agreed and apologized.”

Carneiro (19-9) defeated Randall Wallace, Trey Houston and Brock Larson in one night back on October 3, 2014, for the BattleGrounds MMA debut pay-per-view event from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
