Alistair Overeem has been blogging via Yahoo in the lead up to his UFC debut against Brock Lesnar this Friday in Las Vegas at UFC 141 and in his most recent entry, he discussed the billing of the fight as being a classic rendition of “striker vs. grappler”.
Although the former K-1 Champion agreed somewhat with the classing, he went into detail as to why he feels he is more than just a striker but why he feels no one can exchange hands with him in the UFC Heavyweight division today:
The fight has been promoted as the biggest two athletes in UFC history fighting for the No. 1 contender spot in the heavyweight division. It has also been promoted as a classic “striker vs. wrestler” battle, based on me being, if I may say so, one on the best, if not the best, strikers in the division and Brock almost certainly being the best wrestler in the UFC
