During UFC Fight Night 101 Saturday, officials reported that Conor McGregor has relinquished his featherweight title, opening the door for Max Holloway and Anthony Pettis to meet for the interim title.
On social media, veteran reporter Ariel Helwani stated that is not completely true.
UFC says McGregor has "relinquished" the 145 title. I'm told he never agreed to that, as we reported earlier, but UFC w/i rights to strip.

Jose Aldo, who McGregor knocked out last year to win the belt, was declared the new featherweight champion. Holloway and Pettis will square off at UFC 206 next month.
McGregor won the UFC lightweight belt earlier this month at UFC 205 when he finished Eddie Alvarez. He made history in doing so, becoming the first-ever UFC dual-division champion.
