Report: Ronda Rousey Won’t Be Ready For MSG Debut, UFC Return Delayed Until 2017

There are starting to be conflicting reports again regarding just how soon UFC mega-star “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey will re-appear inside the Octagon.

MMAFighting.com reporter Ariel Helwani, who continues to boast his flawless track record in terms of being a trustworthy source when it comes to breaking big-time MMA scoops, took to social media last Wednesday to provide an update on the UFC fighting return of arguably its’ most high-profile star.

“Nothing is for certain or set in stone yet, but there continues to be increased optimism regarding Ronda Rousey’s return to fighting,” Helwani wrote on his official Twitter page last week.

Regarding the timeframe of Rousey’s return, Helwani wrote, “Few [months] ago the talk was more if not when. That has shifted. November to early 2017 is the talk now, but it’s still very early. Stay tuned.”

In an update, Helwani’s co-worker at MMAFighting.com, former UFC judge and longtime editor of the respected Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer, claimed during his recent appearance on Submission Radio (listen above) that Rousey likely won’t be ready in time for the UFC’s debut event at Madison Square Garden in November.

Meltzer, much like Helwani pointed out in his tweet last week, noted that early 2017 seems to be the likely timeframe for the Octagon return of the “Rowdy” one.

“I talked to one of her friends a couple of weeks ago. And the impression that I got — you know, we don’t usually talk Ronda Rousey business — but I just go, ‘what’s your thoughts? Is Ronda gonna be ready to fight at the garden?’ And they said, ‘no, probably early 2017.’ So that was the impression I was given two weeks ago.”

Ronda Rousey was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 193 on November 15, 2015, where she suffered her first ever professional MMA loss in devastating fashion, as Holly Holm knocked her out in the second round of the record-breaking event held in Melbourne, Australia.
