When Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract is up in the first quarter of 2015, it appears there will be two major MMA organizations bidding for his services.
During his appearance on Monday’s edition of “The MMA Hour” at MMAFighting.com, Bellator President Scott Coker spoke about his company’s intentions on negotiating with the former UFC Heavyweight Champion if his services as a professional MMA fighter resurface.
“That’s a good question,” said Coker when asked if Bellator is interested in pursuing Lesnar. “We’ve had a conversation internally and it’s worth a conversation, but that’s something we’ll pursue maybe later into January.”
Coker continued, “I would say, look, any fighter that’s out there or any star athlete – not star athlete in the sense of a baseball player, but like a Brock Lesnar – that really wants to fight, we’re going to have a conversation with them. Because if they can move the needle, we’re going to want them on Spike TV.”
The new Bellator boss insists that Lesnar would have to want to commit to being a fighter, but feels he is still a big enough “needle-mover” to strongly pursue.
