Instead, the former interim UFC heavyweight champion will meet Amir Aliakbari in the quarterfinals of the RIZIN World Grand Prix open weight tournament.

Carwin will be part of the December 29 event from Saitama, Japan. The event features CroCop vs. Silva, Baruto vs. Tsuyoshi Kosaka and Valentin Moldavsky vs. Szymon Bajor.
The CroCop/Silva winner could meet Carwin in the finals if things pan out as planned. The semifinals and finals are Dec. 31, also in Saitama.
