As noted on Sunday, Wanderlei Silva challenged Chael Sonnen to fight him in Brazil after being asked about the fightat a XFC event. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, at least not in a cage.
Sonnen was recently asked by MMAMania.com about the possibility of fighting Silva in Brazil, and the West Linn, Oregon gangster said it’s not going to happen.
The former UFC title contender told the MMA website that in addition to being retired from MMA, he plans to honor his current Nevada State Athletic Commission suspension, which doesn’t expire until mid-2016.
Sonnen did throw out an interesting proposition, however, offering to compete with Silva in a jiu-jitsu match at a future Metamoris event, as long as “The Axe Murderer” is willing to accept the challenge.
As far as a Metamoris match is concerned, that appears to be a more realistic possibility.
Silva told Submission Radio back in July, “Yeah [I’ll fight him in Metamoris], why not? I never think about that but I think it’s a good idea.”
