Tito Ortiz To Be Special Guest At Armed Forces Day Event

MMA CHAMP TITO ORTIZ TO BE SPECIAL GUEST AT ARMED FORCES DAY EVENT AT FORT BANNING ARMORY ON SATURDAY, MAY 19TH 2007

Mr. Ortiz Will Honor Our Troops at California National Guard Banning Armory and PASS (Pass Area Supporting Soldiers) Event

Huntington Beach, CA — (April 30, 2007) — Tito Ortiz, the mixed martial arts champion, who is an ardent supporter of our troops, will be a special guest at an Armed Forces Day program on Saturday, May 19th at the Banning Armory (99 E. Ramsey St.) in Banning, California.

Mr. Ortiz will speak at a ceremony and take part in a meet-and-greet session with the soldiers. He will join members of the California National Guard, PASS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and others to honor active duty military personnel and “Blue Star” families (i.e. those with a loved one on active duty) and “Gold Star” mothers and families of soldiers who have given their lives in defense of our freedom.

The open-to-the-public program starts at 9AM PT and California Assemblyman Paul Cook District 65, will be the guest speaker. Assemblyman Cook is a retired U.S. Marine Colonel.

“It is a privilege for me to be invited to this event,” said Mr. Ortiz. “I try to support our troops in any way I can and will continue to do so. Whatever I do, however, doesn’t even come close to what our guard and other soldiers do for us every day. My heart is always with the families of those who serve our country and especially with those whose loved ones have made the ultimate sacrifice.”

Jacob “Tito” Ortiz is a legendary MMA fighter. His career has been mostly within the Ultimate Fighting Championship organization where he was Light-Heavyweight champion and became one of the UFC’s shining stars.

A native of Huntington Beach, CA, Ortiz is also known as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” and is admired as both a colorful showman and talented athlete. His acting ability and charisma have earned him roles in several films and TV series. Most recently he make an appearance on the CBS TV series “NUMB3RS.” He also donates substantial time to charitable work, makes appearances to support the U.S. troops and heads a successful sportswear firm, Punishment Athletics.
