Tom DeBlass Injured, Pulls Out Of King Mo Fight At Bellator 131

It looks like Bellator isn’t safe from the injury bug that has been plaguing MMA for the past few years, as the Bellator 131 fight card took a major hit today.

The scheduled fight between Muhammaed “King Mo” Lawal and Tom DeBlass appears to be off.

DeBlass posted some graphic photos on his official Twitter account, showing a bad cut that he suffered that has forced him to withdraw from the upcoming fight card.

DeBlass tweeted the following:

He also issued this official statement:

“@kingmofh sometimes life throws unexpected things our way. Accidental headbutt did just that two weeks before my fight with @kingMofh this cut is deep and bad. This cut is taking me out of the fight with Mo. As soon as it’s touched in the fight it will bust open. I know so many of you wanted to see this so I apologize, and I felt so great, as we know injuries happen in MMA and we fighters take the worst of it. Regarding Mo, we already spoke and he’s one of the most respectful guys I’ve talked too. We already spoke of training together when I’m healed. As far as MMA is concerned I’ll never say never, but I can say right now I’m focusing on competing Jiu-Jitsu and improving my Academy. I have no plans to fight right now. Thank you to my manager Danny Liguori for everything and Bellator for being so awesome, you may see me back in there one day. But for now let’s win some more Jiu-Jitsu title. The night will also feature one of the biggest grudge matches in the sport as MMA icons clash when Tito “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Ortiz returns to the Bellator cage to face “The American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar in a light heavyweight affair, while Will Brooks and Michael Chandler will battle for the vacant Bellator Lightweight Title.”

As of this writing, Bellator has not issued a statement or a potential replacement opponent for King Mo.

Bellator 131 takes place on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California, headlined by Tito Ortiz vs. Stephan Bonnar.
