Tyron Woodley knows all about the history of Madison Square Garden.
That’s why he is so excited to get to showcase his skills and defend his welterweight title Saturday night at UFC 205 vs. Stephen Thompson.
“They didn’t tell me they were going to walk me in front of the Joe Frazier – Muhammad Ali billboard and for me to fight at the same arena as Muhammad Ali, ‘Wonderboy’ better be ready to die because he’s going to get these hands,” Woodley said during an interview on UFC Tonight.
Woodley won the belt with a thrilling first round knockout of Robbie Lawler earlier this year. And why he didn’t get Nick Diaz or Georges St-Pierre as requested, he knows Thompson is a threat not to take lightly.
“I’m going to be a complete mixed martial artists. I can wrestle, I can grapple, and I have knockout power,” he said. “I’m good at not letting anyone make good at me.”
