In a bit of a surprising move, former UFC female bantamweight champion Holly Holm will take on Valentina Shevchenko in the main event of UFC on FOX 20.
The bout was first reported on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday evening.
Holm (10-1) won the belt last November with a finish over Ronda Rousey, stunning the MMA world. Instead of waiting for a late-2016 rematch with Rousey, Holm took on Miesha Tate earlier this year and was submitted in the fifth round.
Shevchenko (12-2) has gone an even 1-1 over her UFC career, defeating Sarah Kaufman before falling more recently to current title challenger Amanda Nunes.
UFC on FOX 20 takes place July 23 from the United Center in Chicago.
