Cain Velasquez is currently preparing for his fight with Fabricio Werdum at UFC 196, a rematch from their UFC 188 fight. In their previous bout, Werdum became UFC heavyweight champion by submitting Velasquez in the third round.
Velasquez recently spoke with Comate.com to promote the fight, and explained that this is a position he’s been in before. The former UFC champ says he’s been making corrections to his game plan based on that loss.
“I’ve been in this position before, with a rematch ahead after losing the first fight, I know what it takes to win, and I will. I see the things I did wrong in the last fight, I go back to practice and try to improve it. I’m always trying to evolve, this is the formula.”
“I’ll win. Only that. As for training, I’ll just be ready for anything. I never deserve anything Fabricio in the first fight, about it being weak here (or any area). No, it is strong everywhere. He is always improving. I expect a Fabricio even better in this fight, a tougher fight, but a fight I’ll win.”
Velasquez mentioned that he is finally feeling 100% healthy now. He says he’s training every day for the UFC 196 fight.
“I’m healthy now, 100%. I’m just going to training every day, I try to limit, and that’s it. If something happens in training and It lesions me, whatever, but I will not leave anything aside, I will continue moving me forward, going to the limits of my body. That’s how I do, and while I succeed, I’ll keep doing it – he concluded.”
UFC 196 takes place on February 6th in Las Vegas. No venue has been announced yet. As always, we’ll have round-by-round coverage of the event right here on MMANews.com.
