Aldo-McGregor Fight Shakes Up UFC’s Official Pound For Pound Rankings

Going into UFC 194 on Saturday night, Jose Aldo was riding a ten-year undefeated streak of 18-0 and was the only UFC Featherweight Champion in history. On top of all that, the Brazilian legend was ranked the number one pound for pound fighter in the world, according to the official UFC rankings. Two punches from “The Notorious” Conor McGregor changed all of that.

The official UFC rankings were updated this week, and as one would expect, after suffering a 13-second knockout loss, Aldo is no longer the number one ranked pound for pound fighter in the sport. However, neither is McGregor.

UFC now has Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson listed as the number one pound for pound fighter, while Aldo dropped from number one all the way to being tied at number six alongside Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler. McGregor, on the other hand, rose nine spots and now sits at the number three spot.

UFC released the following updated rankings following this past weekend’s three events in Las Vegas. To see the rest of the official UFC rankings, visit UFC.com.
