MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani reports that Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren will be meeting with UFC chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta in Las Vegas on Monday while UFC President Dana White will participate via telephone.
Although Askren has his heart set on fighting for the UFC, White has gone on record and told Helwani that the company isn’t really interested in signing the stand out wrestler at this time:
“We’re gonna meet with him on Monday,” said White. “We’re just not going to sign him. He can go to World Series of Fighting where there’s actually some competition for him. There’s no competition for him at that other place [Bellator].
“At least at WSOF he can get some competition and test himself.”
