Benson Henderson vs. Donald Cerrone Set For UFC Fight Night 59 In Boston

It was announced by UFC President Dana White on Monday that Benson Henderson has a new opponent for his upcoming fight at UFC Fight Night 59 in Boston, Massachusetts. Originally scheduled to fight Eddie Alvarez, Henderson will instead face a familiar foe due to Alvarez pulling out with an injury.

The former UFC Lightweight Champion will take on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, in what will be the pairs third meeting inside the cage.

Henderson fought Cerrone twice in the past, defeating him via unanimous decision in their first meeting in the defunct WEC promotion, and submitting him in the first round of their rematch.

Henderson-Cerrone III takes place as the co-main event of the upcoming UFC Fight Night 59 event, which takes place on January 18th at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. The headline attraction that evening will be Conor McGregor vs. Dennis Siver in a bout that White confirmed would result in a title shot if McGregor pulls off the victory.

Below is Dana White’s announcement regarding the Henderson-Cerrone bout.
