The reason Miesha Tate is fighting Sara McMann at UFC 183, as was announced yesterday, is because her original opponent, Bethe Correia, had to turn the fight down due to injury.
After Correia and Tate went back-and-forth with trash-talk, UFC officials reportedly offered Correia the fight. Due to an injury, however, Correia was forced to turn the fight down.
“They offered me to fight Miesha three times,” Correia told MMAFighting.com. “The first date was in December, then January and February, but I couldn’t take it because I’m injured.
“I tried to convince my doctor to let me fight, but he said I can’t come back before March. I can fight King Kong in March, but I can’t fight before.”
Miesha Tate vs. Sara McMann is scheduled to take place at UFC 183 on January 31, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
