Vitor Belfort Reinstated, Will Fight Chris Weidman On December 6th

Vitor Belfort was granted his fighting license by the Nevada Athletic Commission at a hearing on Wednesday.

As per the terms of his license, Belfort cannot compete prior to December, he must fight in Las Vegas for his next bout and is subject to random blood and urine testing no matter where he is. Belfort must also pay for the enhanced testing procedures.

Following the news, UFC announced that Belfort will get a shot at Chris Weidman’s UFC  Middleweight Championship at UFC 181 on December 6th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Belfort was originally scheduled to face Weidman for the Middleweight title at UFC 173 back May. However, as a result of Nevada’s Athletic Comiission banning testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) in February , Belfort had to withdraw from the fight. Lyoto Machida stepped in to fight Weidman and the fight was moved to UFC 175 earlier this month. Weidman won a decision victory.
