Last week, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and former champion Chuck Liddell appeared in Times Square to promote the new EA Sports UFC video game and some wondered if there may be tension between the two due to a public feud earlier this year.
Prior to UFC 172 in which training partner Glover Teixeira fought Jones, Liddell went on record and stated he thought if it was him fighting he would have walked through Jones and found a way to knock him out. Jones would defeat Teixeira and then mock Liddell via his Twitter account.
When asked about it during the EA Sports event last week by FOX Sports, Liddell explained the situation:
“It’s nothing personal,” said Liddell. “That’s my opinion, that’s his opinion. Opinions don’t change. I’m not going to change my opinion, but it doesn’t have to be personal. I don’t get personal with guys.”
“Guys get mad at me. It’s nothing personal. I like you, you’re a nice person. It doesn’t mean if I say you have a weak punch, I don’t like you as a person.”
“It’s just my opinion,. If you don’t like it, I don’t care. Actually, I’ve put my time in. I deserve an opinion. I’ve got the right to my opinion.”
