John Kavanagh “51% Optimistic” About Chances Of McGregor-Diaz II Happening At UFC 200

On Sunday night, Conor McGregor said he was back in against Nate Diaz at UFC 200. On Monday afternoon, UFC President Dana White said he wasn’t. Later on Monday afternoon, McGregor’s longtime coach, John Kavanagh, was dead in the middle.

Kavanagh, the SBG Ireland head coach, appeared on Monday’s edition of “The MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani at MMAFighting.com and shared his opinion regarding the chances of McGregor-Diaz II happening at the UFC’s landmark pay-per-view event in Las Vegas in July.

“I’m 51 percent optimistic and 49 percent pessimistic, if you want to know my feelings on it,” Kavanagh told Helwani on Monday.

According to Kavanagh, it’s pretty obvious why the UFC brass should do whatever it takes to put together the highly-anticipated McGregor-Diaz rematch.

“At some stage you’ve gotta see that maybe it’s pointless to upset so many fans that want to see this fight and ignore the kind of numbers that are gonna be brought in,” said Kavanagh.

As things stand right now, UFC 200 is still without a main event, as McGregor remains off the card and Diaz appears to be sticking to his claims that he will only fight McGregor in July.

UFC 200 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
