Dana White Comments On UFC Re-Signing Thiago Silva

As we reported on Friday, UFC has apparently re-signed former Light Heavyweight contender Thiago Silva.

Silva was fired from UFC after an incident in February that saw the UFC Light Heavyweight contender in a standoff with SWAT team members after he allegedly fired shots at a gym that his wife was training at due to her having an alleged affair with the owner of the facility.

The Blackzilians confirmed the news both via Instagram and Twitter on Friday afternoon. The official Twitter account for The Blackzilians tweeted the following:

Now that the story is out there, UFC President Dana White, who at one point claimed Silva would “never fight for the UFC again,” has commented on the UFC re-signing the former “banned” fighter.

White’s statement reads as follows:

“When this thing went down, I said he’d never fight in the UFC again. When I watched it unfold on TV and heard of the charges, it didn’t look good for Thiago Silva. But he was acquitted of all charges. How do you not let the guy fight again? He went through the legal process and came out of it untainted. He deserves to be able to make a living again. He’s back under contract.”
