With injuries plaguing many of the biggest UFC fight cards this year, there’s no doubt pay-per-view numbers have declined in 2014. UFC President Dana White, however, isn’t concerned.
In a recent interview with Sports Business Daily, the UFC President spoke about the declining UFC pay-per-view business.
“This year, yeah, pay-per-view numbers are down, but this business isn’t what everybody thinks it is,” White told Sports Business Daily. “Trust me, we love pay- per-view. When these big events happen, the pay-per-view numbers will come back. But we’re much more than a pay-per-view company.”
White continued, pointing out that this year has been one where the focus was on expanding the sport — and the UFC brand — on a global basis.
“Every time we go into these other countries, it just keeps building more and more momentum,” said White. “We hear all of this negative stuff here in the United States because they don’t get the whole global strategy. … We’re killing it in all of these other countries.”
