Dana White Says Rib Injury Cost Jose Aldo “Close To Four Million Dollars”

We all knew that pulling out of UFC 189 was going to cost Jose Aldo the biggest payday of his career, however we didn’t know exactly how much — until now.

UFC President Dana White appeared as a guest on the The Rusillo Show on ESPN Radio on Tuesday and discussed what pulling out of UFC 189 cost Aldo financially.

“It’s crazy because I actually saw the video,” said White of the training session that resulted in Aldo’s rib injury. “He gets hit with a spinning-heel kick, which is crazy in itself that anyone is even throwing that at him two weeks before his fight. It is what it is. He stood to make a lot of money, a lot of money. If he could’ve fought, he would’ve fought.”

But exactly how much money?

The host of the show mentioned the number four million dollars, which White basically confirmed.

“Millions of dollars,” White said. “Yeah, he probably would’ve made close to four million.”

With Aldo out of the fight, Chad Mendes steps in to fight Conor McGregor in the new main event for the interim UFC Featherweight Championship at UFC 189 on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
