Daniel Cormier On Ryan Bader: “It Will Be Hard For Him To Get A Title Fight”

Following his UFC 187 title victory over Anthony Johnson, all signs pointed to a Daniel Cormier vs. Ryan Bader title fight, but when Alexander Gustafsson received the next shot instead, Bader wasn’t the only one surprised by the news.

Current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier told FOX Sports that he was surprised by the news, and explained why this isn’t a good sign in terms of Bader ever receiving a shot at the title.

“Honestly, I do I feel bad for him,” said Cormier. “You know what that almost tells me, honestly? It almost doesn’t matter what he does in any situation regardless of what’s going on, it will be hard for him to get a title fight.”

Cormier continued, “Because if there was a situation where he was going to get one, this would be it. Everything was there. From his press conference stunt to him being the only guy in the division on a win streak.”

D.C. concluded, “If I was Ryan and his team I’d be pretty bummed out right now actually.”

Daniel Cormier makes the first defense of his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Alexander Gustafsson later this year. UFC, however, has yet to announce the specific date or location for the bout.
