Diego Sanchez Injury Won’t Require Surgery, Sanchez Still Wants To Fight Joe Lauzon

Although a knee injury took Diego Sanchez off of the UFC 180 fight card, it looks as though it won’t keep him on the shelf for a long time.

Jackson-Winklejohn manager Ricky Kottenstette informed Sherdog.com on Friday that Sanchez only suffered a partial tear of his lateral collateral ligament (LCL) in his knee, an injury that will not result in surgery and one that should only keep the first-ever Ultimate Fighter champion out of training for approximately six weeks.

The Sherdog report also claims that Sanchez, who was originally scheduled to fight Norman Parke at UFC 180 but eventually had his opponent changed to Joe Lauzon when Parke went down with an injury, still wants to fight “J-Lau” when he makes his Octagon return.

Of course, that fight is dependant upon Lauzon’s condition, as he too went down with an injury that ultimately forced him off of the UFC 180 bill as well.
