As the build-up continues leading up to Saturday’s historic UFC debut event in the state of New York, the UFC 205 “Fight Week” festivities continued on Wednesday with the official Open Workouts at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
After his open workout, UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez, who competes against UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor with his own 155-pound title on the line in the true main event of Saturday’s stacked fight card, shared his specific prediction for what will no doubt be the biggest fight of his storied MMA career.
“I think I’m going to land that big shot,” Alvarez said on Wednesday after his Open Workout at MSG. “I think this guy’s worried about a lot of grappling and a lot of wrestling. I think where it’s going to end up, when his mind’s on that I’m going to land that big shot and then I’m going to submit him.”
As far as standing on the floor where the New York Knicks play their home games each NBA season for his Open Workout on Wednesday, and the fact that he is only a couple of days away from his first UFC pay-per-view main event, the Philadelphia native spoke about the magnitude of the moment.
“Magic, pure magic,” Alvarez said of everything surrounding his fight this weekend. “Look, I fought 13 years to put my life to put myself on this stage, in front of the biggest crowd, and I am super-excited to go out there and do something violent, and do something high-paced.”
UFC 205: Alvarez vs. McGregor takes place on Saturday, November 12th from the world-famous Madison Square Garden arena in New York City.
