Evans vs. Kennedy Pulled From UFC 206, Ontario Commission Won’t Clear Evans

Well, we can scratch Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy off of our lists of “fights we’re looking forward to” once again.

According to Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com, the Middleweight debut of Rashad Evans against one of the longtime ranked contenders of the division has been pulled from the scheduled lineup for the upcoming UFC 206 pay-per-view.

Worse yet, it’s apparently once again due to issues with the Commission that is sanctioning the event.

After announcing on his weekly program, “The MMA Hour,” which airs every Monday at the MMA Fighting website, Helwani’s website posted quotes from Evans’ manager who claims that despite it being cancelled twice, both times by the governing body overseeing the event, nothing is wrong with the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

“He’s fine, guys,” Ali Abdel-Aziz said. “Rashad is fine. There’s nothing wrong with him.”

Rashad Evans vs. Tim Kennedy in Evans’ 185-pound debut was originally scheduled to take place at this month’s UFC 205: Alvarez vs. McGregor pay-per-view, but was pulled during the weekend of the show due to the New York State Athletic Commission refusing to clear him due to an undisclosed medical issue.

Regarding the Ontario Commission, who did the same thing this week, Abdel-Aziz said, “They don’t even like MMA.”

Headlined by Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, UFC 206 takes place live from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, December 10th. Join us here at MMANews.com on 12/10 for live coverage of the show.
