Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not relented in his pursuit of Conor McGregor, even going as far as to question the UFC lightweight champion’s manhood.
‘The Notorious’ has stated on a number of occasions that his next fight will be in the boxing ring, yet “Money” is not buying it. The 49-0 boxing legend took time out from his UK Undefeated Tour to fire shots at McGregor and MMA in general, by claiming that real men don’t fight on the ground (via Fight Hype):
“Real men fight standing up,” said Mayweather jr.”I’m from old school. I’m not gonna kick my shoes off. I’m not gonna be between no man’s legs, wrestling on the ground. I’m gonna stand up and I’m gonna kick ass. That’s what I do.”
“TBE” proceeded to fire off a volley of insults at McGregor, who he referred to as a “punk” and a “bitch”. While such goading is a staple of combat sports promotion, it does appear that Mayweather would favor an opportunity to coax the Irishman into the squared circle in what would be a record-breaking 50-0 victory, should he prevail:
“Conor McGregor, stop blowing smoke up people’s ass you little bitch. If you want to fight, let’s make it happen you punk. Conor McGregor you don’t even want to fight you little bitch, you little punk. Let’s make it happen.”
“So just letting the world know that he’s full of sh*t. He don’t really want to fight. ‘Oh I want to fight, I want to fight, I want to fight, Mayweather’s scared of me’ — well listen, I’m my own boss, let’s make the fight happen. You talking all that sh*t, you acting like you want to fight, I don’t think you really want to fight. Sign the contract and let’s make it happen.”
McGregor has been uncharacteristically quiet as of late, yet this should be no indication of the back-and-forth between combat sport’s greatest self-promoters ending anytime soon.
