After rumors began making the rounds earlier this week that UFC executives were meeting with Georges St-Pierre in Montreal on Tuesday, fans immediately speculated that the guys were discussing a potential return for the most famous MMA athlete to come out of Canada.
Since then, UFC officially announced that GSP received the proper medical clearance needed to return to training.
But training for what?
While nothing is set in stone in terms of an Octagon return for the former UFC Welterweight king, UFC President Dana White seems to be optimistic regarding the chances that we will see GSP doing what he does best — kick butt in an eight-sided fenced-in structure — sooner, rather than later.
“His knee just got cleared and he’ll start training again and getting back into shape. He’ll let us know when he’s ready,” White said in a statement made to UFC.com, which we we reported on Friday.
Since yesterday’s reports, the man himself, Georges “Rush” St-Pierre has resurfaced on social media, tweeting the following message about his return, which includes a photo of himself with Gavin MacMillan, whom he credits by name in the message.
