Israel Adesanya Questions Frankie Edgar Getting Title Shot Over Alexander Volkanovski

Israel Adesanya is questioning the reasoning by the decision that the UFC made

Israel Adesanya is questioning the reasoning by the decision that the UFC made when it comes to the next challenger for Max Holloway’s UFC featherweight title.

On Monday evening, the Las Vegas promotion confirmed that Holloway will make his next title defense against Frankie Edgar at the UFC 240 pay-per-view event. This caught some people off guard due to the fact that many thought Alexander Volkanovski would be next in line.

At the UFC 237 pay-per-view event over the weekend at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil, the rising prospect extended his lengthy winning streak when he scored a unanimous decision win over Jose Aldo.

Following the fight, Volkanovski called for a title shot against Holloway at the upcoming UFC 243 pay-per-view event on October 5, 2019, at Western Sydney Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

Adesanya will fight UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker for the title later this year but a date has yet to be determined. It has been speculated on that this fight would take place at UFC 243 due to it taking place in the home country of Whittaker. Volkanovski is also from there.

It should be noted that Volkanovski was hospitalized in Chile as he is dealing with a type of blood infection.

Israel Adesanya Voices His Opinion

Thus, the interim UFC middleweight champion took to his official Twitter account where he gave his take on Holloway vs. Edgar instead of Holloway vs. Volkanovski.

“Me vs Bobby Boy@alexvolkanovski vs Blessed. Sold out stadium in Sydney…Nothing else makes sense! Edgar is on a 1 fight win streak and Alex on 7 win streak in the ufc (17 total win streak) and just beat the king of Rio in Rio. Frankie never beat Aldo (twice).”
