UFC President Dana White announced on Wednesday that the promotion is already working on a date for the next UFC Light Heavyweight Championship fight between Jon Jones and Anthony Johnson.
Johnson, who defeated Alexander Gustafsson via first-round TKO at the UFC On FOX 14 event in Stockholm, Sweden this past weekend, earned himself a title shot against “Bones” Jones later this year.
“We’re looking to do that fight in May,” White said on The Jim Rome Show. “I don’t have the exact date, but May.”
While unofficial at this point, if the Jones-Johnson bout takes place in May as planned, the fight will likely serve as the main event for the UFC 187 pay-per-view, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd, likely in Las Vegas, Nevada.
