Jon Jones Says He’s Made “Tremendous” Personal Changes: “I Have A Lot Of Proving To Do”

Jon Jones, who recently revealed he’s training for a fight sober for the first time, says he’s made “tremendous changes” in his personal life. In an interview with ESPN, the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion says the sobriety he has now isn’t something he’s had since he was young.

“In my personal life, I’ve made tremendous changes. People who actually know me would know that,” Jones said. “Sobriety is something I haven’t had since I was young. So I’m very proud of that right now. If you have doubts that I’ve changed, those are warranted. I have a lot of proving to do. I think second chances are something that are earned. I think people who have been fans of mine can tell I’m trying. The accident happened not too long ago. I have a lot of proving to do, and that’s going to take time.”

Jones will be fighting Daniel Cormier at UFC 197 on April 23, 2016 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. We’ll have live round-by-round coverage of the event right here on MMANews.com on the night of the 23rd.
