The number five ranked UFC Middleweight contender Luke Rockhold, fresh off of his impressive submission over Michael Bisping, told UFC Tonight’s Ariel Helwani that he is making sure that he’s ready in case he gets the call to fill in for the upcoming UFC Middleweight title fight in February.
Rockhold noted that he expects there to be a good chance that either Chris Weidman or Vitor Belfort, who meet each other in the Octagon to battle for the 185-pound title at UFC 184, will fall out, prompting UFC to have the need to find a suitable replacement.
Rockhold spoke to Helwani, informing him that he feels the chances of Belfort failing a drug-test or suffering an injury in training are pretty high.
Helwani also noted during this week’s UFC Tonight that UFC President Dana White is scheduled to meet with Rockhold next week to discuss what is next for him.
Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort takes place at UFC 184 on February 28, 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
