TMZ Sports caught up with Miesha Tate and Cris Cyborg to discuss the surprising news that Ronda Rousey’s next opponent at UFC 195 on January 2nd will be Holly Holm. Tate initially expressed shock and frustration at the decision and told TMZ:
“I didn’t know about it until the rest of the world – probably after since I was still sleeping,” Tate said. “The reason they are telling us it isn’t happening is because Rousey vs. Holm sells more.”
Cris “Cyborg” Justino, who is filming a movie with Tate, was also dumbfounded by UFC’s announcement.
“It surprised everybody,” said Cyborg. “I don’t think this is about money. If you are in line, you fight for the belt. I think Tate deserves it.”
Cyborg remains hopeful that she’ll get her day in the Octagon with Ronda Rousey because it’s the fight the fans want to see most.
“Everyone wants to see us fight,” Santos said. “It is not my choice or (Rousey’s) choice, but the fans’ choice. I’m ready. Let’s go fight.”
