As noted earlier today, FOX announced that UFC announcer Mike Goldberg has been pulled from his second NFL commentary gig this coming Sunday.
Goldberg, who may have lost the job after going on a profanity-filled tirade against his critics on Twitter, has spoken out about losing the opportunity to call the Minnesota Vikings vs. Buffalo Bills game this Sunday as originally scheduled.
“I just want to apologize to everyone at FOX and elsewhere for my momentary lapse of reason Sunday night,” said the lead announcer for the UFC. “I let some mean-spirited folks on Twitter get to me and I should have had thicker skin instead of reacting so quickly and emotionally.”
Goldberg went on to claim that his being pulled from this Sunday’s game was a mutual decision between he and the officials at FOX.
“I don’t want to be a distraction on the upcoming broadcast on Sunday, so we mutually agreed that it would be best to sit this next one out. I’m not happy about it personally, but professionally it’s the right thing to do after my mistake.”
Goldberg concluded, “Thank you to FOX and to others who have been so great to me and understanding.”
